Apa itu copywriting?

Pertanyaan ini akan gue jawab. Tapi ngejawabnya sambil nyeritain masa lalu gue, ea.

Paling panik emang kalau pas udah kelas 3 SMA terus bingung mau ambil jurusan apa pas kuliah. Ibarat kalo mau pipis udah goyang-goyang tapi antrian masih panjang, mejen abis. Sukur-sukur ya kalo orang tuanya punya duit, kalau nggak, yaudah langsung kerja gas pol~

Nah, kebetulan gue punya kesempatan kuliah.

Tapi jelas, seperti anak SMA Indonesia pada umumnya, nggak tau mau ambil jurusan apa. Istilahnya ya, kaya udah siap ketemu mertua, tapi calon belom ada.
 
Karena bingung, fix gue coba pake pendekatan yang efektif di dunia pendidikan Indonesia, yaitu : “tanya-tanya temen siapa tau mereka juga belom” Haha.
 
Dan bener kan!
 
Sekitar 70an persen kaga tau mau ambil jurusan apa. Sisanya nggak yakin sama jurusan yang dipengenin. Gue langsung merasa aman dong, secara temen-temen gue juga nggak lebih tau mau jadi apaan di hidupnya dari pada gue.
 
Ya bener, kan?
 
Ketika kita ragu sama pencapaian diri kita, biasanya secara naluri psikologis (sotoy abis sob), kita akan bandingin diri kita sama orang lain,

Tapi bandinginnya bukan sama yang lebih “baik”, biasanya sih sama yang lebih “buruk”. Hahaha…

Biar rasa “tuh kan gue lebih baik” atau “tuh kan gue aman” langsung hap masuk ke diri kita. Bahasa kerennya instant gratification. Apa itu? Nih, lo bisa baca disini
 
Belom ngerjain tugas, liat temen yang lain juga pada belom, asik. Malah ngatain yang ngerjain pas ngadu ke guru.
 
Belom punya kerjaan, liat temen lain yang pada jadi penganggguran, asik.
 
Belom punya kendaraan, liat temen lain juga pada belom, asik.
 
Gitu aja terus sampe Indomie Selera-mu!
 
Why is that? 
 
Naturally, manusia nggak suka dengan keadaan yang nggak pasti. It scares us. Kita butuh kepastian, kaya mantan lo. Kalau temen lo juga nggak bisa ngerjain, keadaan lo yang nggak bisa ngerjain juga “pasti” wajar.

Kalau temen lo juga pada nggak bisa masak, keadaan lo yang nggak bisa masak juga “pasti” wajar. Kalau lo tersesat, lo akan tanya sama orang lokal biar jawabannya “pasti” benar.

Calon mahasiswa yang bimbang mau kuliah apa, ya juga butuh kepastian. Pasti murah, pasti diterima, pasti dekat, pasti dapet beasiswa. Makanya, nggak heran banyak anak SMA yang menyerah dan memilih jurusan bukan berdasarkan cita-cita dan passion hidup.

Buat gue, copywriting itu sesederhana kemampuan untuk mempengaruhi pembaca lewat tulisan dengan tujuan tertentu. Dan biasanya tujuannya adalah untuk sales.

Dan gue sedang mempelajari ilmu ini gengs.

Ilmu yang banyak orang tau namanya, tapi nggak tau itu apaan sebenernya shay. Makanya gue sedang doing it justice untuk copywriting.

Gue prihatin sama sumber-sumber copywriting di Indonesia yang masih limited dan not really doing anything that matters. Jadi, gue mau jadi Si Brosur edufair itu.
